Left-hand drive used Japanese cars are permitted for import in Lithuania. Japan used vehicles can be imported temporarily.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR IMPORT OF VEHICLES
- Application form (to be approved by the Protocol department)
- Title and Registration certificate (original)
- Ownership documents
- Commercial invoice (original)
- Passport or driver’s license
- International Insurance Policy (green card)
- Import license
- Certificate of vehicle’s registration (original)
- Third-party motor insurance
- Declaration of Customs clearance (with 1 copy)
- Bill of Lading (original)
- Identity proof of the owner
TAXATION
- 10% Duty and 18% VAT will be imposed on used vehicles that are less than 7 years old.
- 18% VAT will be charged for vehicles that are more than 7 years old.
- For the temporary import of the vehicle, Riga Customs should be given a 2% deposit along with the application. Temporary imports of vehicles are allowed only for one year.
- 11% to 22% tax rates for large vehicles such as buses and trucks, etc.
- Registration of the cars of the diplomats is done through the Foreign Ministry.
- If the value of the car drops below the valuations mentioned in the customs book, then customs will refer to the book of car values.
