Right-hand drive used Japanese vehicles are permitted for import with a valid import license. Japan used cars are inspected for radiation before importation in Mongolia.

TAXATION

13% VAT and 5% of invoice value as customs duty will be imposed on the import of used vehicles from Japan.

EXCISE DUTY

For vehicles with 1500cc or less engine:
$500 for vehicles that are 0-3 years in age
$1000 for vehicles that are 4-6 years in age.
$2000 for vehicles that are 7-9 years in age.
$6000 for vehicles that are 10 years and above in age.

For vehicles with 1501cc-2500cc engine:
$1500 for vehicles that are 0-3 years in age.
$2000 for vehicles that are 4-6 years in age.
$3000 for vehicles that are 7-9 years in age.
$7000 for vehicles that are 10 years and above in age.

For vehicles with 2501cc-3500cc engine:
$2000 for vehicles that are 0-3 years in age.
$2500 for vehicles that are 4-6 years in age.
$4000 for vehicles that are 7-9 years in age.
$8000 for vehicles that are 10 years and above in age.

For vehicles with 3501cc-4500cc engine:
$4500 for vehicles that are 0-3 years in age.
$5000 for vehicles that are 4-6 years in age.
$6500 for vehicles that are 7-9 years in age.
$10,500 for vehicles that are 10 years and above in age.

For vehicles with 4501cc and above engine:
$7000 for vehicles that are 0-3 years in age.
$7500 for vehicles that are 4-6 years in age.
$9000 for vehicles that are 7-9 years in age.
$13,000 for vehicles that are 10 years and above in age.
