Left-hand-drive used Japanese cars are permitted for import in Poland. For importing Japan used vehicles in Poland, the roadworthiness test is required. The test must be done within 3 years after the first registration of the car. The next roadworthiness test should be done within the next 2 years after the first test, and then within every one year of the last roadworthiness test.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR REGISTRATION OF VEHICLES
The imported vehicle must be registered either at the district authority or town council of the place you are living in. The documents required for registering used Japanese vehicles in Poland are:
  • Proof of ownership of the vehicle or the document that states the details of the transfer of the vehicle.
  • Documents of registration of the vehicle, if the vehicle was registered.
  • A document proving the clearance at the customs.
  • A certificate confirming the test of roadworthiness of the vehicle.
  • A document proving that the excise tax has been paid for the vehicles such as passenger cars and motor vehicles
TAXATION
Taxes and duties imposed on the import of Japan used cars in Poland are:
  • An excise tax will be applicable if the vehicle is 6 months and above in age and has been driven for more than 6000 km.
  • Excise tax is based on the size and age of the vehicle and its engine.
  • 22% VAT will be charged.
