Left-hand-drive used Japanese cars are permitted for import in Switzerland.
Inspection
The used vehicles to be imported in Switzerland have to go through a technical inspection test for their roadworthiness before they can be taken on the roads. The test can be done at the cantonal road traffic office by the Automobile Services. The importer must visit the licensing office a month before the inspection has to be done. The documents to be carried are Form 13.20A, vehicle license, an insurance certificate (to be obtained from the Swiss motor issuer), and a document of the exhaust test. A customs declaration form is also required which states that the vehicle has been a personal belonging of the importer before immigration.

TAXATION
  • 10% Import duty will be imposed for importing Japan used vehicles in Switzerland.
  • 8% VAT will be charged.
  • CFC 12 will be charged for 100 kg load.
