DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR IMPORT OF VEHICLES
  • Bill of Lading
  • Commercial or purchase invoice
  • Title and Registration certificate
  • Driver’s license (Until a local driver license is obtained, it will be valid for 30 days)
TAXATION
  • Import duty imposed on Japan used car ranges between 25% to 45%.
  • 7.5% of the FOB value will be implied as Customs Processing Fees on the import of the used cars from Japan.
  • Customs duty is imposed on the used cars from Japan as per the engine capacity:
  • For cars with up to 2000cc engine: 25% Customs duty
  • For cars with up to 4000cc engine: 35% Customs duty
  • For cars with over 2000cc engine: 45% Customs duty
  • Customs duty imposed on the motorcycles as per the engine capacity:
  • For motorcycles with up to 100cc engine: 25% Customs duty
  • For motorcycles with up to 250cc engine: 35% Customs duty
  • For motorcycles with over 250cc engine: 45% Customs duty
  • The duty imposed on the vehicle exported from Japan depends upon its assessed value and shipping cost.
