Both left and right-hand drive used Japanese vehicles from Japan are permitted for import in Uganda. The inspection of all used Japanese cars will be done by JEVIC for their importation in Uganda.

The documents required at the time of clearance for the import of Japan used cars are:

• Commercial invoice
• Bill of Lading (original)
• Negotiable Original Bill of Lading (2 required)
• Work permit (copy)
• Immigration permit
• Certificate of change of residence
• "Attestation reservation de cale"
• Passport of the consignee (original)
• Invoice or valuation of the vehicle to be imported
• Logbook or export documents of the vehicle (original and from the country of origin)
• Inventory (3 copies, in English, signed and dated by the customer)
• List of electrical items (to be listed with serial numbers)
• Tax Identification Number (to be issued by the consignee local employer in Uganda)
